On June 4th Camellia Bridal and friends were so proud to take part in Race for Life! We raised a HUGE £2050 (+£413.75 gift aid) for Cancer Research UK, by getting together and getting a sweat on at our local park right here in Abington.
Lots of our brides are affected by cancer in one way or another, and as Race for Life is a exclusively female event – it felt like a good one to take part in. My sister Lyn and I did the Race last year, but this year I wanted us to raise even more, and do it better!! For Race for Life 2017, we were a team made up of staff, friends, family and one of our brides-to-be Rachel – who was game from the beginning and a very important part of the team!! Next year I would love to see more brides take part … so watch out – it might be YOU!!
Our Camellia friend Angela, with her own very personal message.
The weather on the day was fantastic, dry and warm. We all donned our Camellia Bridal hot pink T-shirts and met up at the park. Everyone had made a real effort at fundraising and every penny came together to make a grand total we are VERY proud of. Tt was great to make some new friends, see some old ones and come together as a group of women who care about cancer and do something positive together.
All of us took the run at our own pace, everyone completed it and all were very proud of their own achievements on the day. We had a few tears and much laughter at the finish line (and a bit of puffing and panting too 🙂 ).
I would like to say an enormous thank you to the ladies who took part, gave me their personal support by recruiting more members to the team and who worked so hard to raise money. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Our bride-to-be Rachel, who brought love and positive vibes to the day from start to finish!
