Fishtail wedding dress shapes offer a very fitted look with the benefit of a fuller skirt. This style will really show off your figure and accentuate your curves! Fishtail bridal gowns work perfectly with hourglass shapes, whatever size you are. Fishtail dresses will hug your hips and bum while narrowing your waist. This style won’t hide tummies so if you are conscious of this area, or are an ‘apple’ body shape, then this shape might not be right for you. Also known as Mermaid style, fishtails are also tight fitting around the thigh area which some brides love and some find it makes it difficult to walk. Remember – although tight dresses look good, they mustn’t be so tight that you can’t sit down or get in the wedding car!
But… If you are confident with your body and want to show off those curves (or create some!) then fishtail dresses are definitely for you! Tall girls look great in this style of dress, although we have known shorter girls who can pull them off well too.
We have a good selection of dresses in this shape. One of our brides’ favourite fishtails is Brooklyn, designed by Jason Jennings at Veromia. It has a stunning backless illusion look and full tulle skirt with a wavy crin hem that gives the skirt a great movement, and helps it hold that ‘kicked out’ shape. The lace edged cap sleeves are very popular this season.
Another stunner from Veromia is Bernadette (shown in the picture here) with its spaghetti straps crossing over at the back, a fitted bodice with sweetheart neckline and pretty spotted tulle in the skirt. This dress is a little different, yet very striking. The is a half illusion back, with a beautiful lace edged train. The dress could easily have the straps removed, if you prefer a strapless look.
New for Spring 2017 is our beautiful Cindy. The skirt is amazingly soft and fluid and the bodice covered with delicate beading. We chose it in the vintage colour and are so glad we did as it really is beautiful.
